The Giudecca is one of Venice's best kept secrets, a heavenly retreat inhabited almost entirely by locals although boasting some of the city's best restaurants and bars.
You can lunch at Altanella's two hundred yards away, at Harry's Dolce or at Chip's (Cipriani restaurant) on the waterfront and feel the true maritime history of Venice.
There is a vaporetto landing just outside the door and Piazza San Marco is three stops away.
